Let’s Talk Textiles

Our mission and commitment to sustainability is at the core of Picto Kits. The textiles (a.k.a. fabric or material), sourced from clothing production cutoffs that would otherwise end up in a landfill, are carefully curated in a variety of colors, patterns, shapes, and sizes to provide a diverse assortment in every kit.

Each bundle contains enough fabric to allow for multiple creations, ensuring that you can make your kit over and over again, with each piece being unique because of the choices you make.

By repurposing these textiles, we not only reduce waste in the fashion industry but also offer YOU a fun tactile creating experience!!

Impacting the Fabric Waste Problem

The fashion industry is notorious for its large carbon footprint and environmental damage, with textile waste being a significant issue. Shockingly, it's estimated that the amount of fabric discarded in landfills from clothing manufacturing is at least 40-70 times the amount of residential waste.

Working in the Los Angeles fashion industry allowed me to witness firsthand the staggering amount of textile waste created during the clothing production process. Motivated to make a positive change, I set out to find a creative way to upcycle these discarded scraps into something beautiful and useful. This drive led me to create Picto Kits, which offers sustainable art options while reducing waste in the fashion industry.” — Alyssa Bird (Picto Kit Founder)
